2004 World Series of Poker

by Adel Awwad

The sport of poker has taken off in recent years, becoming one of the most popular games being played at parties, gatherings and more. No longer just part of the casino, poker is more popular than ever, and nowhere was this more evident than at the 2004 World Series of Poker. There were a record number of entries in the 2004 World Series of Poker, with what was estimated at around 2,576 players.

The advent of online betting has fueled some of the popularity surrounding poker and the celebrity poker shows making rounds on primetime television are also part of the phenomenon. Many of the people who participated in the 2004 World Series of Poker qualified for the tournament online, after learning how to play in online poker rooms. The number of players who participated in the 2004 World Series of Poker had more than tripled in comparison to the 2003 WSOP, which hosted only 839 players.

Space was somewhat of an issue at the 2004 World Series of Poker, as there was only enough room and material to accommodate 1,200 players at the outset. However, they ended up stretching the 2004 World Series of Poker over two weekend days with half the players playing in the first part of the day, and half playing in the latter part. This added to the excitement and made it feel more than ever like an event instead of just a game.

After whittling down some of the players over the weekend, the 2004 World Series of Poker extended into the following Monday. About half of those players ended up being cut that day. However, the competition was fierce and fans of poker watched with bated breath to see what the next move would be.

The 2004 World Series of Poker also saw higher stakes than ever being wagered on the games. This had to do with the number of people who were able to pay the $10,000 entry fee. In fact, the 2004 World Series of Poker winner, Greg Raymer, won $5 million, which is a World Series of Poker record.

In addition to being broadcast on ESPN into homes worldwide, the 2004 World Series of Poker tournament saw many amateurs enter the professional poker realm. The popularity of the sport has never been higher and each year as the time for the World Series of Poker rolls around again, players (both professional and amateur) gear up for more high stakes and big fun.

3 Card Poker Strategy

January 21, 2010 :: Posted by - Online Casino 123 :: Category - English, Uncategorized

3 Card Poker Strategy

by Adel Awwad

When you break out the 52-card deck and deal a hand of 3-card poker, the first strategy you need is a firm understanding of the rules. Rather than competing against other players, you are competing against the dealer. You need a better hand than the dealer (and at least a pair) to win. Each of you is dealt three cards, and the cards are shuffled after each hand. Because there are fewer ways to make a straight with 3 cards than a flush, straights rank higher. Aces are high or low.

You can make two bets: the Ante and the Pair Plus. The Ante is the fee charged to you for playing the hand. The Pair Plus is your bet that you will get a hand with a pair or higher. You don’t have to make both bets, but you do at least have to bet the Ante to stay in the game.

You ante when you put your bet on the game table’s Ante spot. Both you and the dealer are dealt three cards face down. Your next decision? Are these cards good enough for you to bet or should you fold? Fold and lose the ante. Bet and you place your bet that equals the ante in the game table’s Play spot. Win and you get the Ante and the Pair Plus payouts.

The dealer has to have a Queen or better to stay in the game. If not, you get payment on their ante only if it pays even money (1 to 1) – and as long as you didn’t fold.

Ante Payout

· A straight gets a 1 to 1 payout.

· A three of a kind gets a 4 to 1 payout.

· A straight flush gets a 5 to 1 payout.

Pair Plus Payout

· A pair gets a 1 to 1 payout.

· A flush gets a 4 to 1 payout.

· A straight gets a 6 to 1 payout.

· A three of a kind gets a 30 to 1 payout.

· A straight flush gets a 40 to 1 payout.

Remember these tips to help your strategy:

· If you have a Queen or better, bet the Pair Plus. If not, fold.

· A dealer will get a Queen about 66% of the time.

· The house has a 3.4% advantage.

7 Card Stud Poker

January 21, 2010 :: Posted by - Online Casino 123 :: Category - English, Uncategorized

7 Card Stud Poker

by Adel Awwad

Seven card stud poker is played on most online poker sites and is offered in most live casinos. The game is dealt as follows, two cards face down and one up to each player followed by a round of betting. Three more dealing rounds of an up card to each player followed by a round of betting after each dealt card. The final card is dealt face down to each player followed by a final round of betting. When the bets are called or folded to, the hands are exposed and the best poker hand wins the pot.

The starting hands that are considered worth continuing the play and calling the bets are as follows, three of a kind, a pair, three suited cards and three numerical running cards of any suit. The other players up card should also be considered when making this decision. Calling without a good starting hand is not wise as this makes it an uphill battle to end up with the winning hand. Good starting hands give that player a leg up on ending up with a better hand and winning the pot. Poker is a game of perceived edge both in fact and in the players mind. Without this edge, the player who calls bets may as well be playing straight show down poker where a bet is made at the beginning and no decisions are made during the play of the hand. That is pure gambling and not intelligent risk taking.

Whether to continue the play of the hand depends on what the other players are showing in their up cards and the size of the bet versus the size of the pot. The value of your hand if you hit the next cards dealt versus what you believe the other players may be betting on. If your prospective final hand is a likely winner, then you should consider calling the current bets.

Remember, bluffing is allowed and a strong showing hand may be a false front with nothing behind the bet. This is part of the game and should be used judiciously, but it should be an element of your play. Good players win pots all of the time with non-winning hands due to the way they bet the hand. Playing good starting hands will allow a player of betting better hands and not having to bluff. This is the real advantage of making it part of your play to be selective in the starting hands your will consider for play.

A Comparison Of Online Poker Rooms And Sportsbooks To Brick and mortar

January 25, 2010 :: Posted by - Online Casino 123 :: Category - English, Uncategorized

A Comparison Of Online Poker Rooms And Sportsbooks To Brick and mortar

by Gen Wright

Twelve years ago, most Internet users were still too frightened to purchase something from Amazon because they did not like the idea of having their credit card information available on the World Wide Web. After all, didn’t “World Wide Web” indicate the information would be available to anyone anywhere in the world?

In the present day, most of these same Internet users would not think twice about purchasing a book, or perhaps doing all of their Christmas shopping, from the secure servers of a reputable Internet dealer. Yet when it comes to gaming, the brick and mortar world still seems to have a sturdier reputation than the one found in any online sportsbook.

However, this should not be the case. Take, for instance, the following four considerations.

* Standards of accountability: Brick and mortar casinos, or casinos with physical locations where gamers can go to test their luck and skill, carry with them a certain degree of security. But have you ever stopped to ask why? Clear into the late twentieth century, some of the most “reputable” casinos in the world had verifiable mafia connections. While that threat seems to be gone, and you don’t have to worry about the house literally breaking your legs anymore over a lucky winning streak, you still don’t know what goes on behind the scenes. Casino workers still watch their “guests” like hawks, sometimes with good reason, but often times not. While brick and mortar locations do have to meet jurisdictional regulations, many Internet sportsbook locations do as well. (In fact, you should always keep this in mind when looking for a good Internet sportsbook with which to do business.)

* Customer load: The amount of customers brick-and-mortar casinos allow within their doors is largely contingent on maximum seating capacity. Even if you are one of the lucky ones who get a seat, you then have to worry about who is breathing over your shoulder and other uncomfortable inconveniences that go with the territory of a crowded environment. At a quality Internet sportsbook, you can place your bets and enjoy the fun of online poker rooms without all the congestion and hassle.

* Cost to consumers: An Internet sportsbook is able to feature many of the same great games and betting opportunities, such as online poker rooms, with a much lower cost. In fact, if you are not playing for free, you can get money involved for as little as 2 pennies. And if you are a poker rooms professional, you can stand to make real money against other players. Brick-and-mortar casinos tend not to invest in poker rooms because they are hard to profit from.

* Locations: Brick and mortar casinos are normally located in harsh locations, such as deserts and jungles. A reputable Internet sportsbook and its true location can be found on your home computer in the comforts of your living room, or any other place where you choose to “visit” it.

A Gambling System That Works

A Gambling System That Works

by Adel Awwad

Since gambling began, there have been people who have strived to find the perfect gambling system – one that puts the odds so much in the gambler’s favor that riches are almost certainly guaranteed. In all these thousands of years, has anyone ever really found a gambling system that works?

Although there are people who claim to have found systems to beat the odds at any type of gambling, most of the gambling systems that you hear of are for a particular form of gambling; such as Blackjack, Poker, or Roulette. There are many books about systems for particulars areas of gambling, most written by people who have focused a lot of time and energy on their choice of game. There is no arguing that there are people out there who win more at certain games then they lose; just look at the professional Poker players you see on TV these days who live quite comfortably on their winnings. Many of these professionals have written books on how to win at Poker, and more than likely their advice is sound and potentially profitable.

For the serious gambler, the best thing to do is to choose one game – two at the most – and do as much research as possible. Practicing the game helps, but you may not be the kind of person who can come up with winning strategies easily. More often than not a great deal of math is involved, and for some people math just isn’t their strong suit. It’s best to find systems that have already been established by successful gamblers, and see if they work for you. Systems differ with whomever invented them, and it may be worth the time to try several different systems before you decide on which one works best for you. Keep your wagers small until you feel comfortable that a certain system is going to work well for you.

Although systems do exist that can put odds more in the gambler’s favor, one must never forget that gambling means taking risks, and these risks can never really be completely omitted. Sinking your life savings into a gambling system that you believe is foolproof and will put you on the road to riches is a foolish idea, and any reputable professional gambler, no matter how successful, will agree with that. That being said, it certainly doesn’t hurt to test gambling systems by starting with small amounts of money that you can comfortably afford to lose, and seeing which system works best for you. If you win, gamble with your winnings, and set aside the amount that you started with. That advice, by far, is probably the gambling system that will always work best.

A List of What To Do and Not To Do When Playing Casino Games

January 21, 2010 :: Posted by - Online Casino 123 :: Category - English, Uncategorized

A List of What To Do and Not To Do When Playing Casino Games

by Adel Awwad

The best rule of all concerning casino games is knowing the odds associated with the game. Knowing the odds will help the smart player limit his or her play to the games with the best odds for the player. Also within the game, like shooting dice, the player should know the odds that come into play on each type of bet. Some craps bets are weighted toward the house, while others are barely in the houses favor. Dice, Blackjack and Baccarat have the best player odds of any game in the casino. For this reason, these games get the bulk of smart gambler’s play at any casino. Some gaming vehicles are so bad for the player; they should be avoided at all times. The Wheel of Fortune is an excellent example. Learning to play a chosen game is well worth the effort as a player who plays the game well cuts the odds even further from the house edge. An example would be hitting a breaking hand when the dealer shows a bust card when playing Blackjack. Letting the dealer take the chance of busting is the best play possible most of the time. Keno is another popular bet in casinos, but it has a very high house edge. Limit the play to a few games at dinner or breakfast. Chalk up the Keno play as an added cost for the meal. Slots are the most popular game in the casino by far, but the smart gambler sets a tight limit on losses for each session of play. The longer the player stays and plays, the more likely the bigger loss for the session. Casinos set their odds based on the amount of play they get. Short sessions of play do two things for the player. A short session will keep losses down and if the player is lucky, they will quit while they are ahead in the game. Every gambler has seen a nice win turn into a loss by playing to long at a game.

An even money bet versus a high odds bet is a constant dilemma for the gambler. Every one wants to hit a bet on a single number at roulette and collect 35 to one. One way to do this and cut the odds of hitting a number is keep track of how long it has been before it comes up. If the number you want to play has missed 15 or 20 times in a row, it may be worth a small wager for four or five bets. The theory behind this scheme is the player has missed a long series of what could have been losing bets. It the player hits the number, then the counting starts again. Also a long dry spell of a single number can mean that it will repeat several times when it does show up again. The theory is to play for this situation.

A player should set hourly session limits, for continuous play at a casino or online. Four-hour stretches are reasonable and will confine losses to shorter periods of play. Treat each session as a separate entity and do not assume that bad or good luck will follow into the next session. When on a rush of winning bets, increase the size of the bets. When on a losing cycle, decrease the size of the bets. Many players do it completely the other way and play right into the hands of the casino. When losing change games or tables or quit. Do not fight a hot dealer or a cold game. Take a small shot at the large progressive slot games, but do not play to long or let the losses get out of hand.

Insurance bets when playing Blackjack is a bad bet for the player. The odds are too high and the payoff is way to low. The suggestion is let the dealer play the hand and the player should pass on taking the bet. Pai Gow poker is a great game if you have the nerve and the money to take the bank side when you are on a rush. Add up the other players common bets to determine what the loss would be if you lose every hand. If you can afford the risk then make the play.

Quit playing if you are angry or drunk. Anger clouds the judgment and drinking may make a player reckless. The latter is more of an individual result than a cut and dried idea. Some people can swim in booze and it does not seem to affect their play in the slightest.

When playing Baccarat follow the shoe if the shoe is throwing out small runs on either side of the shoe. This means, play the bank or the player when they won the last hand. The theory is that a few hands on the same side will follow. Never fight a strong trend in Baccarat. It will only cost a lot of money to discover that a trend can last far longer than the player thought possible.

Conclusions

Gambling is a game of feelings, hunches and odds. Players who can feel the trend early are lucky and are very likely to make money at the game. Those players that are slow on the take are not likely to be big winners unless they happen into a monstrous run. Pick the games you play with some logic and not because it is the open game you can see on the floor or on the site.

Courage and being foolhardy are not the same. Increasing your bet size when the flow is your way takes courage, but is not foolhardy. Foolhardy is increasing your bet to try and get even when you are losing.

Play games with a low house edge and stay away from sucker bets or propositions. Many of the proposition bets are very poor bets to make. If the house edge were small they would not be offered.

A Winning Roulette System

January 21, 2010 :: Posted by - Online Casino 123 :: Category - English, Uncategorized

A Winning Roulette System

by Adel Awwad

Roulette is considered to be one of the most popular casino games in the world. It tends to draw players from all types of backgrounds. Being a relatively simple game to understand while offering a diverse range of betting options and payout outcomes is what makes Roulette such a big hit with the players. Roulette is also considered to be one of the casino’s biggest money makers because it tends to place the odds in favor of the casino. Whether one is placing bets on an American Roulette Wheel which has 38 numbers (0, 00, 1-36), or on a European Roulette Wheel which has 37 numbers (0, 1-36), the odds are usually in favor of the casino, especially if one places bets such as a straight up bet (a bet covering one single number) or a split bet (a bet covering two numbers). Of course there are other types of bets which will increase the odds in the player’s favor such as a dozen bet (a bet covering twelve numbers), or an odd or even bet (a bet covering eighteen numbers), but covering eighteen numbers out of a possible 37 or 38 still places the odds in favor of the casino.

Having tried many different betting systems, I finally found one that places the odds in favor of the player, is very simple to understand and does not carry a large degree of risk as far as losing one’s money is concerned. If the aim of the player is to cover as many outcomes as possible while increasing the chances of winning, then this may be one Roulette system that is worth a try. Being a low risk system, the payout from a win is only 3 to 1, but the odds are 63.16% in favor of the player in an American Roulette game and 64.86% in favor of the player in a European Roulette game.

The logic of the system is as follows: By placing two Dozen bets of equal amounts, the player is essentially covering 24 numbers which is over 60% of the total numbers on the wheel. The chances of losing the bet are between 35.13 % and 36.84% which is far lower than a Column bet or Colored bet. If the winning number falls in one of the two Dozen bets, then the player will receive three credits for the two credits wagered.

For example, let us assume that you have placed a bet of $10 on the numbers 13 – 24 and another $10 bet on the numbers 25 – 36. Now you have covered over 60% of all the numbers and if you win, you will be ahead by $10. As mentioned earlier, the returns may not be high (depending on how much money is wagered), but the chances of winning each bet tend to be higher than usual.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Poker Odds Calculator

January 25, 2010 :: Posted by - Online Casino 123 :: Category - English, Uncategorized

Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Poker Odds Calculator

by Gen Wright

You have to know when to hold them and know when to fold them. That’s what the song says, and when it comes to playing poker, truer words could never be uttered. Poker isn’t about winning every hand. In fact, sometimes you have to lose a few hands to win the game. Unfortunately, you cannot always know when to stay in and when to close out. If you could look at the other players’ cards, perhaps it would be easier, but doing that could be construed as cheating.

Or could it? Some tools exist which put technology to work for you. With a good poker odds calculator, you are capable of being able to determine when the right and wrong times to play a hand are based on a developing understanding of the game. By using a poker odds calculator, you are not cheating, but increasing your knowledge, and then using that to become a better poker player.

Here are a few distinct advantages of playing with a poker odds calculator (but keep in mind there are some possible drawbacks, too):

Odds of the Pot: Even the best player who has full knowledge of poker strategy can find himself at a loss when it comes to calculating odds for each new hand, and computing that with how it affects the odds of the pot. With a quality poker odds calculator, the guesswork is taken out of it for you. And taking the guesswork out of manual odds calculations means you can focus on other poker strategies such as zoning in on the modes of play for other participants.

Greater probability of accuracy: The seasoned pros, who are masters of strategy, cannot keep up with the accuracy rate of a good poker odds calculator, which has been known to generate accurate calculations over 75% of the time. Considering the millions of possible hands a player can have in five-card poker alone, that is an amazing rate of accuracy!

Less confusion: Are you a pro with memory and math skills? If so, you still cannot match the accuracy rate of a good piece of poker odds calculator software. If you are in the majority of folks who find those two areas to be a bit more problematic, then taking advantage of the poker odds calculator is even more advantageous.

Flexibility: Don’t change your game to meet what a poker odds calculator produces. Instead, find one that will fit with your current playing style. Only then can you make the seamless switch into becoming a better poker player. Not to worry. A quality poker odds calculator will make this easy for you.

Before you give completely in to the temptation, however, remember that you can become too dependent on a poker odds calculator. It is there to hone your skills, not replace them. Falling in to the trap of allowing it to make your decisions for you can put you at a real disadvantage down the road. But with a little moderation, you will be a winner all the way.

Africa Casinos

January 21, 2010 :: Posted by - Online Casino 123 :: Category - English, Uncategorized

Africa Casinos

by Adel Awwad

Africa casinos are easily found on this continent, with twenty-nine African countries that house casinos, and a few that offer horse and dog racing. Africa depends heavily on tourism for much of its economic success, and offering casinos where people spend money adds considerable appeal to the tourism industry.

Though casinos can be found throughout the countries located on the African continent, a significant number of casinos are located in South Africa. Cape Town, South Africa is where you will find GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World, the largest casino facility on the continent. At this casino you will find sixty casino gambling tables that feature such games as blackjack, roulette, and craps, as well as over two thousand slot machines. The casino also boasts 10 restaurants that serve a variety of multi-ethnic fare and an on-site luxury hotel. This is only one of the many full-service Africa casinos that can be found, and with the success that Africa is seeing in the gambling industry, many more are being built each year.

Countries in Africa are also taking advantage of the growing popularity of poker and poker tournaments, and especially in South Africa, national poker tournaments are becoming more popular. Many of the Africa casinos are now making it a point to provide special accommodations for poker players and poker tournaments.

Most of the African countries that offer casino gambling have developed organizations that set rules and regulations for casinos, a big selling point for tourists who may be concerned about the Africa casinos in which they are gambling. Most of the representatives of the casino gambling industry within the continent of Africa have signed agreements where they pledge to adhere to a gambling code of conduct. Tourists who are visiting such countries as South Africa, Egypt, and Morocco can rest assured that they will be treated fairly when visiting casinos. Although in the African gambling industry there are some casinos who comply with regulations better than others, gamblers can still feel confident that most of the casinos that they visit will be reputable.

With the growing success of the gambling industry in many African countries, many people are starting to take notice, including casino owners in other countries. Successful casino chains are becoming more interested in investing in the casino industry in Africa, which can prove to be a win-win situation for everyone involved. Predictions for the future of the gambling industry in Africa are good, and Africa casinos may even some day start to compete in popularity with other tourist attractions in Africa, such as safaris.

Alabama Casinos

January 21, 2010 :: Posted by - Online Casino 123 :: Category - English, Uncategorized

Alabama Casinos

by Adel Awwad

Alabama is a southern state located in “the Heart of Dixie”, with a rich history dating back to the Civil War. It is known for its Magnolia trees, lush gardens, grand old historic homes, and southern hospitality. Alabama, with a population of over 4,500,000, is adjacent to Georgia, Mississippi, and Florida. The capital of Alabama is Montgomery, which was the first capital of the Confederacy.

Alabama casinos are for the most part bingo casinos, which are run by Native Americans. Casinos can only be run on Native American land, since there is no legalized gambling as such in the state of Alabama. The revenue from the Alabama casinos, as a result, is not taxed by the state of Alabama, since Native American tribes own them. The majority of gambling in Alabama can be found at the horse racing tracks and dog races, in addition to a few slot machines, video gambling machines, and pull-tab cards at these locations.

There are three Alabama casinos, all located within 20 minutes from the capital of Montgomery, that do a thriving business. The Creek Entertainment Center in Atmore is open for gambling Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 Midnight, and Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. There are 1,000 bingo seats for live games, 200 electronic bingo machines, a number of pull-tab card selections, and one restaurant at the Creek Entertainment Center. The largest of the three Alabama casinos is the Tallapoosa Entertainment Center in Montgomery. The Tallapoosa is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for casino gambling. There are 480 electronic bingo seats in 21,000 square feet of gaming space, with a full bar and grill for added convenience. The list of Alabama casinos also includes the Riverside Entertainment Center, located in Wetumpka, which is run by Native Americans as well. The Riverside casino is open 24 hours a day, Monday through Saturday, from 12:00 Noon to closing time, and Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. to closing time. This Alabama casino has 16,000 square feet of gambling area, a large selection of over 530 slot machines, and an onsite restaurant.

Alabama could profit enormously from having casinos located along the Gulf Coast, both onshore and on riverboats. This would encourage competition between Alabama and its neighboring state, Mississippi. The revenue to be gained from legalizing Alabama casinos and the boost it would provide to the economy may hopefully spur the state government to open Alabama to legalized gambling in the near future.
